2025 YOUTH HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

  • 4 v 4 format for U8 – U14
    • Saturday, December 20th, 2025 : 8am-4pm (tentative end time)
  • 6 v 6 format for High School ages
    • Tuesday,  December 30th, 2025 : 11am-6pm (tentative end time)
  • Age groups/divisions may be combined dependent on number of registrations
  • T-shirts awarded for winning teams in each category
  • Team managers/coaches register the team and pay the entry fee- you will be sent a link to share with your players and once they register they will get added to your roster
  • When registering, please make sure you select the correct level of competitiveness your team wishes to participate in

REGISTRATION:

The coach, manager, or whichever adult is in charge of each team must register their team and all members on line prior to playing in their first game. This must be done before the tournament registration deadline.

Managers will check in with firm team rosters twenty minutes before the first game at the Fieldhouse front desk or designated check in area. If there are changes to the online roster, parents of players will need to register online or at the front desk to be eligible to play.

The age division selected should be of the birth year of the oldest player on the team. Younger players are permitted to play in older divisions, but older players are not permitted on younger division rosters.

Girls may be rostered within the boys divisions, but no boys may be rostered within the girls divisions

The maximum number of players permitted per roster is eight; however we recommend six to maximize playing time and touches on the ball

No new players may be added to the rosters once teams check in

Field & Goal Dimensions:

Field is 25-35 yards (length) x 15-25 yards (width)
Goal size is 4 feet (height) x 6 feet (width)
Penalty arch is 6 feet (length) x 12 feet (width)
No corner flags

Equipment:

All players must wear shinguards
Team shirt colors must match, but all teams should have TWO COLORS WITH THEM. In the event of a color conflict, the home team (listed first in fixture), shall change colors. NO pennies will be provided by the facility.
Soccer ball size: u9-u12 = size 4
Ball size u13 and older = size 5
Each team needs to provide a match ball of the appropriate size
For divisions that have combined age groups, the match ball size should be that of the oldest age group in the division

Game/tournament format:

All teams play each other in round robin format. Knockout stage will follow depending on number of teams in division
Each team is guaranteed at least three games
Games are 20 minutes in length. Game lengths may be shortened/extended by five minutes based on scheduling conflicts or number of teams in the division. Exact game length will be announced with the final schedule posting
Games during group play that are tied at the end of regulation shall end in a tie; in the knockout stages, ties at the end of regulation will go directly to a penalty shootout
Teams playing in a final may shorten their game time length if both teams are in agreement
Points are as follows:
Win = 3
Tie = 1
Loss = 0

Knockout seed placement tiebreakers:

1). Head to head
2). Goal differential (maximum 5)
3). Goals for
4). Goals against
5). Penalty kicks
Penalty kick shootout:

Coin flip determines which team kicks first
Taken from the center circle on an open goal
Best out of 3, followed by sudden death if needed
All players besides kicker must be behind halfway line

In-match Specifics and Rules:

4v4 with no goalkeepers

Substitutions- are unlimited and on the fly

Sliding- sliding is allowed, but NO slide tackling

Restart of Play:

Any ball that goes out of bounds past a sideline is restarted with a kick-in
A coin flip determines which team begins the game with a kick-off
All kick-offs, free kicks, kick-ins, goal kicks, and corners are DIRECT and used to restart play
Opposing players must be five yards away from the ball in any restarts or dead-ball situation
Heading: We follow the CASA rules in relation to heading, which specify that heading is not allowed for boys u12 and younger age group divisions, and not allowed for girls u14 and younger age group divisions

Goal Kicks:

Goal Kicks are direct, taken from anywhere in or on the arc, or from the goal line, and are allowed to go past the halfway line in the air
Goal Kicks can be passed in OR dribbled in. Once a ball is set down for a goal kick and a player takes a touch, the ball is live
A player is NOT penalized for touching the ball on the arc line during a goalkick, unless they re-enter the arc with the ball after leaving it

Penalty Kick (in regulation time):

Taken from the center circle on an open goal; all other players must be behind midfield
If the ball is not scored and stays in play, it is NOT live; the opposing team shall restart play with a free kick from where the ball stopped

Scoring:

You can score from anywhere on the field and from behind midfield
Any team that goes down by six goals is allowed to bring an extra player on the field. This is allowed to continue until the goal difference is five again

Goalkeeper Penalty:

There will be a penalty arc around the goal; players are allowed to step in the box, but if a defensive player is in the box or on the line and makes contact with a ball, a penalty will be awarded to the attacking team. Likewise, a penalty will be awarded if the defensive player is in the arc or on the line and makes contact with the ball when it is outside the arc
If an attacking player is in the box or on the line and makes contact with the ball, this will result in a goal kick. If scored, no goal shall be awarded
NO OFFSIDES

Fouls, cards, and suspensions:

All infractions are restarted with a direct free kick UNLESS the infraction nullifies a clear goal-scoring opportunity and/or is a deliberate act that denies a team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. In this case, a penalty kick would be awarded

Cards:

A yellow card is a soft one-minute penalty; a red card is a hard two-minute penalty
Players given a red card resulting from two yellows in one game cannot return to that match but can return the following game
Players give a straight red cannot return to that match and are suspended the following match
Any player receiving two red cards in the tournament is suspended from the rest of the tournament
No penalty kicks are automatically given after cards, unless, as mentioned earlier, they nullified a clear goal-scoring opportunity
For more serious misconduct, the amount of total games suspended will be decided at the discretion of the Tournament Director

-Any unique situations will be decided at the discretion of the tournament director

Field & Goal Dimensions:

-Field is 50 yards (length) x 35 yards (width)

-Regulation small-sided goals

Coed Specific Rules

-Minimum number of females on the field at all times (including goalkeeper) is three

-The same male player can score a maximum of four goals per game

-All penalty kicks, corner kicks, and free kicks in the offensive half must be taken by a female

-In the event of a penalty shootout, teams must alternate between female and male kicker, starting with the female, until this order cannot continue

-Any unique situations will be decided by the facility management

In-match Specifics & Rules:

5v5 plus goalkeeper

Substitutions:

-Substitutions are unlimited and on-the-fly

Sliding:

-Sliding is allowed, but NO slide tackling

Restart of Play:

-Coin flip determines which team gets the ball from kickoff

-Any ball that goes out of bounds past a sideline is restarted with a throw-in

-All kick-offs, goal kicks, and corners are DIRECT and used to restart play

-Opposing players must be eight yards away from the ball in any restarts or dead-ball situation

-When the ball goes out of bounds past a sideline, the game is restarted from where it left the playing field with a traditional throw-in

-A ball is classified as out of bounds if it hits the actual ceiling and significantly changes direction. Play is restarted with a throw-in from the sideline for the other team. The ball is still live if it hits the ceiling net but does not significantly change its flight.

Goal Kicks:

-When the ball goes out of bounds for a goal kick, the goalkeeper uses his or her hands to put the ball back into play. All opposing players must be out of the penalty area when the goalkeeper is distributing the goal kick. The goalkeeper IS allowed to put the ball down and distribute with his or her feet; however, once the ball is put down it becomes live and others may enter the penalty area

-All goal kicks are direct

-Goal Kicks must be passed in, and cannot be dribbled in

-Hand to Hand rule- a goalkeeper who has had hand control of the ball and then having released the ball from his hands to be played either by themselves or a teammate, shall not handle the ball again until it has been touched or played by an opponent, unless a stoppage of play occurs. Goalkeepers are not allowed to bounce the ball to themselves indoors

-Six-second distribution rule- A goalkeeper with possession of the ball in their hands must distribute the ball outside their penalty area within six seconds of having handled the ball within the penalty area. All above infractions will result in a direct free kick for the opposing team at the top of the arc

-Punts and dropkicks are not allowed

Penalty Kicks & Free Kicks

-The opposing team must not be within an eight-yard radius of the ball

-The penalty spot is ten yards away from the goal

NO OFFSIDES

Fouls

-We follow the same rules as FIFA in regards to yellow and red cards with the following modifications:

-Yellow and red cards may be issued by the referee depending on the type of offense committed

-When a player is shown a card, they must provide the referee their full name. This will be recorded on the game sheet and confirmed by the team manager/representative after the game

-All infractions are restarted with a direct free kick UNLESS the infraction nullifies a clear goal-scoring opportunity and/or is a deliberate act that denies a team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. In this case, a penalty kick would be awarded

Cards

-All card offenses are treated normally in relation to the type of foul that was committed

Time Penalties:

Yellow card = soft two minutes

Red card = hard five minutes

-Yellow card penalties are considered as a “soft” two-minute penalty, meaning that if the offending team concedes a goal during the penalty period, they are allowed to put a player back on the field

-A red card, whether straight or the result of two yellows, is considered a “hard” five-minute penalty

-Players given a red card, whether it be straight or the result of two yellows in one game, cannot return to that match but can return the following game

-Any player receiving two red cards in the tournament is suspended from the rest of the tournament

-Any player/team caught not serving his/her/their suspension will receive further suspensions and may be subject to point deduction and/or disqualification

-There are no penalty kicks awarded after a card of any sort, unless of course the foul was committed in the penalty area

-For more serious misconduct, the amount of total games suspended will be decided at the discretion of the Tournament Director

ANY PLAYER, COACH, OR MANAGER THAT IS EJECTED FROM A GAME MUST LEAVE THE FACILITY IMMEDIATELY

-The team manager is responsible for ensuring that the player leaves. Failure to leave may result in longer suspensions, point deductions, forfeits, or disqualification from the tournament. The game may not restart until the player has left the premises.

-There can be no appeals for ANY yellow or red card, regardless of the reason for receiving the card

Misconduct

-The CAPS Fieldhouse management will not tolerate any type of misconduct. Any person found to be guilty of serious/violent misconduct may be suspended indefinitely from playing at the facility. This will be communicated between the facility and the team manager.

Facility policies

-No spitting is allowed anywhere within the facility- if a player is caught, it will result in an automatic yellow card. If a coach or spectator is caught, they may be asked to leave the facility. Further violation of this policy is grounds for removal from all future participation of any kind in CAPS Fieldhouse.

-No chewing seeds or gum!
